The Research Methods Laboratory    


The Research Methods Laboratory (METLAB) is a private not-for-profit association based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. METLAB is dedicated to furthering knowledge and advancing understanding of research methods through its expertise, education programs and institutional collaborations. Switzerland provides an ideal setting for METLAB to deliver its range of high quality research training programmes to international students at certificate, diploma, undergraduate degree, PGD, and master’s degree level. Our activities are organised within a matrix of teaching and research involving programmes of qualitative and quantitative methods, seminars, workshops, international collaboration, conferences and publication. 
METLAB currently has two vacancies for interns to assist with 

(a) our international events programme, and 

(b) our conference and publication activities. 

These internships offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the not-for-profit sector and to develop a wide range of skills in an international context. The roles are offered as either full or part time and based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. While a significant proportion of the work can be completed on-line, we envisage that the intern will be physically present in Neuchâtel as required (at least two days per week, or as agreed). 


Liaise with the programme director and assist with day-to-day administrative tasks
Conduct outreach activities to potential partner organisations in the education sector
Assist in preparing for meetings, workshops and other activities
Assist with copy writing and editorial tasks
Provide administrative support (filing, helping to prepare meetings, etc.)

Qualifications and Skills

Ideally candidates should:     
 have an interest in developing a career in the education and training sector
 have already completed their first degree
 be fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
 have strong writing, analytic and interpersonal skills
 be competent in managing social media 
 have the ability to work to deadlines independently with a minimum of supervision. 



The position is part-time or full-time
Based in Neuchâtel
Duration: 3 months minimum (6 months maximum)
Preferred start date: June 2015  
This position is voluntary and unpaid (travel expenses will be provided should you be required to undertake travel relating to your role, but not daily travel to or within Neuchâtel)
Candidate should hold or be eligible for a Swiss permit (we are unable to assist with obtaining this)
